Fire Emblem: The Age of Legend
League of Akaldin
A military order of Yeoria founded in the 2A 3090s near the start of the reign of King Twemornir of Yeoria at the advice of the very old Tollidarius VIII of Ivla before he died.
The League of Akaldin was at first a strictly knightly order devoted to the kings of Yeoria and to The Shining Path and Sekeriah. At considerable expense they purchased several dozen pegasi from the Cumulonimbus Consortium and trained as the first pegasus riders of Yeoria.
As the pegasi became a successfully breeding population, the order expanded over the decades and now includes not only a corps of knights and minor nobles but also a larger number of hand-picked soldiers. Still, only those of noble background may rise to become its leaders.
Numbering just under 500 warriors and slightly more mounts, the League of Akaldin pledges direct loyalty to the House of Yeor but is still considered part of the army of Yeoria and so cannot be ordered into foreign engagements even by the king without the permission of the Akt. In actuality they are led by a man called the Ikrin or “fearless one,” the first of whom was the eponymous Akaldin. Under the Ikrin are 5 captains, each of whom commands roughly 100 warriors and each of whom also has a vice-captain to help them and take their place should they fall in battle. Johannes is one of the latter, but is often permitted to directly follow and aid his prince since his unit is not often on the front lines.
Besides military duty, the League of Akaldin serve as messengers and as bodyguards and transportation for important figures when the need arises.
